The Government of Maldives (GoM) is implementing the “Maldives: Enhancing Employability and Resilience of Youth” (MEERY) Project funded by the World Bank. The objective of the project is to improve the relevance of technical and vocational skills and foster entrepreneurship to promote youth employment in priority sectors. The GoM aims to strengthen the project implementation, with a new PMU housed within the Ministry of Economic Development (MoED) for effectively implementing existing project activities and the proposed additional activities related to the Ministry of Economic Development (MoED).

The PMU will consist of members from the MoED and line agencies and operate as a joint coordinated effort. The Project Management Unit (PMU) for Maldives: Enhancing Employability and Resilience of Youth Project will consist of teams for procurement, finance, social safeguards, media – led by the Project Director and assisted by Project Manager.

As part of implementing the new PMU for MEERY under MoED, the Ministry of Economic Development wishes to contract a Communications Officer.

 

The objective of this assignment

The MoED wishes to contract a Communications Officer who will assist the Communications and Safeguard specialist and project team for the overall day-to-day coordination of the World Bank projects implemented by MoED. The Communications Officer is expected to report to the Project Director.

Contract Duration

This is a 1-year contract ending November 2023, with the possibility of extension with pipeline donor projects. Upon signing of the contract, 3 months shall be counted as the probationary period. The contract shall be renewed based on performance, need, and funding.

This contract is expected to commence in December 2022.

The Ministry of Economic Development now invites interested eligible individuals to submit their Expressions of Interest (EoI). Interested individuals must provide a cover letter, their CV with information demonstrating that they are qualified to perform the services (description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills, etc.), academic certificates, and relevant reference letters, covering the Key Qualifications listed in the Terms of Reference. 

 

Deadline

The expressions of interest must be delivered to the address below by regular mail, emails, no later than 1600 hrs Maldivian time on 6th December 2022 

Note: The request for expressions of interest shall be read in conjunction with the TOR for the respective post.
