Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES:

  1. Ensure that the construction activities are carried out according to the plans, designs and drawings and ascertain accuracy of the qualities, quantities and proportions of the construction materials are precisely maintained.
  2. Undertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work.
  3. Assist in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
  4. Perform risk, value management and cost control.
  5. Identify, analyze and mitigate commercial, technical or other risks.
  6. Prepare Bills of Materials and Cost Estimates that reflect probable construction costs.
  7. Prepare and check Bills of Quantities for the construction building and other infrastructure works required for the project at the current market price.
  8. Compare the drawings and the Bill of Quantities submitted to ensure that the values coincide.
  9. Review and agree on the quantity, quality and cost of the materials used for construction of the building by the Contractor.
  10. Advise on procurement strategy and the tendering process including procurement and contract negotiations stage.
  11. Prepare and analyze costing for tenders.
  12. Assist in the contract administration, during the construction and delivery of the project, and provide advice to resolve any conflicts and disputes related to the contract.
  13. Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client.
  14. Advise Project Implementation Unit in preparing and revising project activities and financial plans and when required by the Government and the relevant funding agency.
  15. Assist and advice in developing and reviewing proposals, concept and designs pertaining to construction projects and provide necessary comments and suggestions.
  16. Advise HOD and Management the implications of health and safety regulations.
  17. Carry out valuation of completed work and arranging payments.
  18. Analyzing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports.
  19. Assist in the review/evaluation of project reports and documents.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Completion of MQA Level 7 Qualification in Quantity Surveying or related field.
  2. Civil Engineering/Quantity Surveying professional education certification with minimum 3 years of experience in the field.

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  1. A proven track record of managing projects at various levels with accountability.
  2. Able to confidently manage subcontractor accounts.
  3. Understanding and knowledge of similar projects.
  4. Highly organized and should be able to multitask.
  5. Excellent research skills and presentation skills.
  6. Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills.
  7. Computer literate with excellent Microsoft software skills
