General Requirements
Sc. Nursing, M.Sc. Nursing Education an advantage
Registered Nurse at a licensing authority
A strong clinical background with minimum 5 years in nursing practice & 2-3 years in clinical education or teaching with proven track record
Responsible for designing, delivering and evaluating nursing education programs, utilizing the latest scientific evidence
Responsible for organizing, implementing coordinated training
Ability to identify training needs, and apply appropriate gaps and prioritize areas required to uplift knowledge and skills
Ability to work with policies and procedures of the hospital and to participate in updating and development of policies and procedures specific to nursing education
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Job Specification
Main responsibility: Advance nursing practice through quality professional development and seek organizational resources for nurses and nursing to engage in lifelong professional development.
Educate technical and patient care staff at all levels using applicable methods to do so. This relates to clinical and non-clinical staff under the nursing banner.
Design, deliver and evaluate educational curricula pertaining to the specific and developmental needs. Ensure that skills meet changing dynamic needs of the hospital.
Research and remain up to date on the latest clinical practices.
Develop specifically required workshops and training programs in line with specific development and identified needs.
Mentor and teach current professional nursing staff, ensuring the practice standards are consistent with organizational requirements and accreditation standards.
Ensure practical application from the teaching is applied, to conduct ongoing assessments based on clinical performance to identify continued training needs.
Develop appropriate patient care plans on a macro and micro level.
Oversee and conduct induction programs.
Report any staff performance concerns to senior managers.
Provide regular feedback on areas needing improvement to team members.
Support improvement programs as highlighted in staff or guest engagement surveys.
Identify clinical indicators: collect, analyze and report on relevant clinical indicators.
Facilitate and action recommendations from infection control audits.
Conduct quarterly and annual training needs assessment and develop a strategic action plan.
Guide Department Heads in are specific nursing education & training, and guiding the overseeing of the implementation of the knowledge and practice.
Administer specific training modules and in-service training course curriculum.
Select and schedule instructors for specific training programs. Training new instructors as required, and assessing the training that is delivered to staff by the instructors.
Provide professional and personal development opportunities for all staff.
Develop and implement nursing staff competence assessment relevant to specialties.
