General Requirements
MMBS/MD Pathologist/Histopathologist
Minimum 5+ years’ relevant experience in hospital environment
Experience in basic and advanced histopathological methods
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Strong interpersonal skills
Proficiency in spoken and written English
Prior experience in Quality Control is of advantage
Experience in accredited laboratory is of advantage
Writing research papers, reports and reviews is an advantage
Job Specification
Assist in implementing the day-to-day functions of the Credit Unit
Examination and dissection of surgical resection specimens, to select the most appropriate samples for microscope slides
Microscopic examination of tissues and cytological specimens, normally seen in a tertiary general hospital
Performing autopsies and/with tissue samples and additional laboratory data constructing autopsy report
Construction of clinical reports and reporting results into laboratory information system
Participates in tumor boards
Participates in multidisciplinary clinical teams
Participates in medico legal teams
Completes test records and reviews data
Gathers data and documents test results
Carries out research into specific diseases
Collaborates and liaises with healthcare professionals and industrial and clinical colleagues
Controls and participates in required training activities
Writes and revises control test procedures and SOPs
Stays up-to-date on testing protocols
Assists in validation and improving of methods
Controls maintaining of laboratory supplies
Controls adherence to all safety requirements and liaise with infection control
Adheres with local regulations and external quality systems
Assist in maintaining accreditation standards
Support and advise clinical staff to help them choose the correct tests
Work alongside healthcare scientists while they complete laboratory tests
Educate colleagues in the use and limitations of each diagnostic investigation
Provide advice and interpretation of test results and the appropriateness of further investigations
Undertake managerial responsibilities, such as planning the workload and staffing of the department, especially at more senior levels
Supervise and teach junior medical staff, depending on the post

- Issued by the medical or dental council or licensing authority of the country where the doctor is practicing for the last 1 year
