General Requirements

  • Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Minimum 2-3 years of progressive clinical laboratory experience, laboratory operations and personnel management
  • Demonstrate managerial and team leadership qualities
  • Decision making and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of laws and policies applied to health care practice
  • Knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement Process

Job Specification

  • Organize, develop, monitor and improve all workflows within the scope of the laboratory and all testing services
  • Responsible for overseeing the 24 hour operations of pathology and laboratory services
  • Ensure that all patient related matters and complaints are handled efficiently
  • Recommend and implement new or improved services or products
  • Ensure risk management and control is in place
  • Inspect unit daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and standard, and takes corrective action when violation occurs
  • Lead the department in all the initiatives by management
  • Responsible for lab equipment and stock management
  • Be proactive, assess and identify root causes and make sound decisions to improve
  • Work on agreed action plans that are based on facts, knowledge of hospital’s policies and procedures
