Post: Shariah Compliance Analyst

Reporting to: Manager – SDFC Islamic
Key tasks, responsibilities, and deliverables:
• Assist in monitoring day-to-day business activities and documentation of the
Islamic Window to ensure adherence to Shariah principles.
• Support the review of transactions, activities, services, and investments within the
Islamic Window to confirm compliance with relevant Shariah guidelines.
• Attend to inquiries from clients and business units regarding Shariah -compliant
products and operations, escalating complex issues to senior staff.
• Conduct research on Shariah aspects of products and prepare summaries for
presentation to the Shariah Committee.
• Assist in reviewing transaction documents.
• Identify and report any observed Shariah non-compliance events to relevant
departments under supervision.
• Support the coordination and resolution of non-compliance events as per Shariah
Committee directives.
• Help conduct assessments of Shariah compliance in the Islamic Window’s
activities, operations, policies, procedures, and documentation.
• Assist in performing Shariah reviews of business units and operations based on
Shariah Committee resolutions and guidelines from the Shariah Council of MMA.
Requirements and Qualifications:
• MQA level 5 qualification in Islamic Economics, Islamic Banking/Finance,
Shariah/Shariah & Law, Fiqh Muamalat with minimum 2 years of experience.
Other Competencies required:
• Familiarity with trade, economic development, and MSME sector in the Maldives.
• Analytical approach and proactive attitude to managing issues.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and detail-oriented
approach to managing risk and compliance issues.
• Applicants with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office will be given higher
priority.
• Excellent interpersonal skills along with communication skills including verbal
and written, with strong emphasis on report writing and presentation
capabilities.
• Excellent computer skills including processing of word documents, spreadsheets,
and databases.
• Attention to detail in addressing Shariah Compliance events.
Remuneration package:
• Gross pay is between MVR 15,500– MVR 16,400 depending on the Qualification
and Experience.

Working Hours:
• The selected applicant will be required to work from 0800 to 1600 on weekdays.
