The Government of Maldives (GoM) is implementing the “Maldives: Enhancing Employability and Resilience of Youth” (MEERY) Project funded by the World Bank. The objective of the project is to improve the relevance of technical and vocational skills and foster entrepreneurship to promote youth employment in priority sectors. The GoM aims to strengthen the project implementation, with a new PMU housed within the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade for effectively implementing existing project activities and the proposed additional activities related to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

 

The objective of this assignment

The MED wishes to select a Financial Management Specialist who will support the Project Director with the project’s finance and accounting system in accordance with the World Bank guidelines and ensure timely preparation of project financial recording and reporting.

Contract Duration

The contract duration is one year starting from commencement date.  Upon signing of the contract, 3 months shall be considered as the probationary period. The contract shall be renewed based on performance, need, and funding. 

This contract is expected to commence in November 2024.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade now invites interested eligible individuals to submit their Expressions of Interest (EoI). Interested individuals must provide ID Card Copy, CV and academic certificates covering the key qualifications listed in the Terms of Reference.

Deadline

The expressions of interest must be delivered to the address below by regular mail, emails, no later than 21st November 2024, 16:00 hrs Maldivian Time.

  • Required Expertise and Qualifications
  • The Consultant should have:
  • Master’s degree in accounting, Finance, Financial Management or suitable equivalency from a
  • recognized university with at least seven (7) years of relevant experience.
  • Sufficiently experienced to manage project finances, prepare essential financial management
  • reports including annual financial statements, and to monitor project financial progress.
  • Experience in preparing budgets and cash flow statements is desirable.
  • Possess analytical, administrative, and computer skills in spreadsheets and any other
  • application.
  • Familiarity in dealing with annual audits will be an added advantage.
  • Previous experience in public finance-related projects or donor-funded projects will be an
  • added advantage.
