SCOPE OF WORK

The Director is responsible for ensuring that the Membership & Licensing, Quality Assurance Review, and Training & Research function of CA Maldives are running smoothly and efficiently. The Director shall be responsible for managing the staff in these areas and ensuring that they are adequately trained and resourced to carry out their roles effectively.

Additionally, the Director shall:

Execute the objectives of the Institute mandated by the Chartered Accountants Act 13/2020 to ensure that all persons working in the accounting profession are conversant with international norms and standards and possess the relevant knowledge and training in the field and to collaborate with professional accounting bodies, Institutes, schools, and universities that offer professional accounting courses both locally and abroad.
Oversee the trainings and programs organized by the Professional Development Unit to members and non-members of the Institute as required by the Act and all regulations under the Act.
Develop learning materials and CPD programmes for the accountancy profession.
Ensuring that the Institute conducts the required number of hours of CPD for members each month and provide reports of all CPD hours conducted monthly.
Develop a facilitators pool for CA Maldives and ensure the functioning of the pool.
Play an active role in events organized by the Institute.
Establish the Research Function of the Institute.
Establish and oversee the Quality Assurance Review (QAR) function according to the QAR Framework of the Admission & Licencing Committee.
Oversee the operations of the Membership & Licencing function.
Provide technical support to all committees of the Institute.
Formulate, in conjunction with the Council, and its sub-Committees, a strategic direction focused on the future of the accountancy profession and implement them.
Oversee all developmental activities conducted by the Institute.
Ensure the relevant manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all functions within the Technical Division are established and up to date.
Provide regular reports to the Council on the performance of the Technical Division and identify areas for improvement.

Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret technical data and make informed decisions based on it.
The ability to conduct outreach and build consensus to facilitate the adoption of international best practices.
The ability to draft project proposals and implement projects activities with given resources and timelines.
Knowledge of, and ability to navigate, complex issues arising in a start-up.
Excellent communication skills; listen effectively and clarify information as needed; and identify and obtain input from key stakeholders representing a wide spectrum of opinions.

IDEAL QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

MNQF Level 9 Qualification in relevant field with minimum 4 years of relevant experience, (OR) MNQF Level 7/8 Accounting Qualification with minimum 6 years of experience in relevant field (of which minimum 2 years of relevant experience shall be in a managerial position).
Preferably a member of a professional accounting body.
Must be familiar with accounting and auditing standards such as IFRS, ISA’s.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Willingness and Flexibility to travel on projects conducted by the Institute.

COMPENSATION

Remuneration: 35,000
