Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced associate attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate should have obtained the license to practice in the lower courts. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent analytical skills and the ability to carry out the relevant works in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Case Preparation:
- Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions.
- Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests.
- Organize and maintain case files, evidence, and exhibits.
- Legal Research:
- Conduct thorough legal research using online databases, legal libraries, and other resources.
- Summarize and analyze case law, statutes, regulations, and legal articles.
- Prepare research reports and memoranda for attorney review.
- Client and Witness Communication:
- Communicate with clients to gather information, schedule appointments, and provide updates on case status.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, interviews, and depositions with clients, witnesses, and experts.
- Prepare and deliver correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, and other parties.
- Document Management:
- Draft, format, and proofread legal documents and correspondence.
- Ensure all documents are filed in accordance with court rules and procedures.
- Manage electronic and physical case files, ensuring confidentiality and security.
- Administrative Support:
- Organize and maintain attorney calendars, including deadlines, court dates, and appointments.
- Prepare and manage billing records, expense reports, and timekeeping.
- Perform general office duties such as answering phones, managing office supplies, and handling incoming and outgoing mail.
- Compliance and Legal Procedures:
- Ensure compliance with legal procedures and ethical standards.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of court filings and legal documents.
- Stay updated on changes in laws, regulations, and legal procedures relevant to the firm's practice areas.
Qualifications:
- Valid legal permit/license to practice law in lower Courts and Tribunals.
- Previous experience in the field would be considered.
- Strong understanding of corporate law, contract law, employment law and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in corporate and employment law
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office
