Background

Leo Trading Pvt Ltd is a market leader in logistics and infrastructure services in the Maldives. Managing financial operations for a company with over 600 staff, 100+ vehicles, and 30+ maritime vessels requires sound accounting systems and strategic financial oversight. At Leo Trading, the Accounts Officer is instrumental in maintaining financial integrity, ensuring compliance, and managing the financial transactions that support large-scale operational activities.


Purpose of the Role
The Accounts Officer is responsible for maintaining accurate financial documentation, managing accounting entries, and overseeing reconciliation and reporting activities within the Accounts & Finance Department. This includes supporting daily accounting operations and ensuring the timely processing of payments and financial records.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain general ledger and post journal entries
Prepare and review financial statements and management reports
Oversee accounts payable and receivable cycles
Monitor and report on project-related expenditures
Coordinate monthly and annual closings
Ensure compliance with tax and financial regulations
Liaise with external auditors, banks, and government agencies
Supervise and mentor subordinates
Identify and recommend financial process improvements
Carry out other duties as assigned by the Head of Finance and/or Chief Financial Officer


Required Qualifications & Experience
Education
o Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
o Professionally recognized accounting qualifications will be considered an added advantage (eg: AAT, CAT, ACCA, CIMA etc)
Experience
Minimum 2 – 3 years of relevant accounting experience
The following skills will be considered as added advantages
o Proficiency in MS Office, particularly MS Excel
o Proficiency in accounting software such as e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, SAP, Odoo etc
o Strong attention to detail and accuracy
o Understanding of accounting principles and regulatory standards
o Prior experience in logistics, construction, or infrastructure sectors is a plus
