Accounting and Financial Analyst

The Accounting and Financial analyst will play an integral role in supporting financial planning, analysis and special financial studies for the Centurion organization as well as performing general accounting functions.

General Responsibilities and key traits:

  • Acts as a role model for Centurion’s visions, values, and culture.
  • Prepare detailed annual financial budget and monthly financial forecasts.
  • Preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial analysis schedules of actual versus budget variances.
  • Develop and manage annual and multi-year budgets that are adequate for the
  • organization’s needs including preparation of periodic budget forecasts.
  • Provide financial analysis support for department managers.
  • Develop ad hoc reports, special studies and financial analysis which drive the behaviour of the business.
  • Design and administration of key performance metrics.
  • Develops automated reporting and forecasting tools for more efficient use of data.
  • Responsible for monthly financial accounting, including oversight of journal entries, accruals, and financial analysis, to ensure timely and accurate reporting of monthly financial results for Business Units
  • Responsible for month-end, quarter-end and year-end close
  • Lead quarterly forecast process by partnering with Business Units leaders.
  • Compare actual results with forecast to analyse and identify areas of strengths and weakness.
  • Develop and deliver a consistent and accurate analysis of business performance using KPI and non-financial data to highlight performance.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests as required.
  • Liaise with the various Business Unit Managers to provide support as required.
  • Ability to work in an environment that is rapidly changing, where processes and procedures are in development.
  • Intellectual curiosity with a willingness to learn and develop new skills and processes.
  • Willingness to learn the operational side of the Centurion organization.
  • Open and communicative nature.
  • Awareness and reliability of timelines for the timely and accurate reporting of financial performance.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Qualifications:

  • Attained a Business/Finance degree with preference given to those with relevant further study/designations (CGA/CMA/CA)
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience as a senior financial analyst, financial accountant, or in a similar position
  • Advanced skills and experience in MS Office Excel
  • Knowledge of ERP and Accounting Systems, preferably Quick Books.
  • Demonstrated understanding of IFRS accounting standards.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills with ability to set priorities, adjust and respond professionally to changing priorities and ad hoc issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal savviness skills with a proven ability to interact with all levels of management. Possesses strong leadership/command skills and demonstrates organizational agility.
  • Ability to learn new concepts and tasks quickly, work under pressure, and meet deadlines requirements in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent technical learning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
