The main responsibilities of the Accountant are as follows:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records as per the applicable financial reporting standards and company’s policies;Prepare and issue invoices timely and ensure effective cash and credit control;
Monitor all overdue accounts and take necessary action to ensure that payments for invoices are collected in accordance with the company’s credit policies;
Process invoices for payments from suppliers and other vendors as per the company’s SOPs;
Prepare and submit statutory tax filings such as Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns, Employee Withholding Tax (EWT) returns, Non-resident Withholding Tax (NWT) returns, and Income Tax Returns and ensure all necessary tax reporting obligations are met, on time;
Prepare and present monthly management reports to the management of the company;
Perform reconciliations of general ledger accounts;
Reconcile bank statements and other financial records on a regular basis, as per company’s SOPs;
Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and forecasting;
Maintaining an effective filing and reference system to support the management of the affairs of the finance department;
Coordinate with external auditors in finalizing the financial audit of the company;
Managing any tax audits conducted by the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA).
