Operating as an intermediary between Island Councils and the central government, Council plays a key role in atoll-level coordination. Its responsibilities include supporting Island Councils, coordinating development initiatives, advising on land use and environmental management, promoting social and economic development, and facilitating the effective implementation of government policies and services throughout the atoll.
