Job Description

Job Profile and Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting

• Oversee financial accounting, month-end and year-end closing, and financial statement preparation in compliance with IFRS (including IFRS 9 and IFRS 16).
• Ensure timely and accurate mandatory reporting to the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA), Board, and other regulators.
• Lead the preparation of Board papers, senior management presentations, financial dashboards, and management reports.

Impairment, ECL & Risk-Related Responsibilities

• Lead the Bank’s IFRS 9 impairment framework, including Expected Credit Loss (ECL) calculations, staging, SICR assessment, model reviews, and provisioning methodology.
• Ensure governance, documentation, and validation of impairment models and assumptions.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning

• Lead the annual budgeting process, multi-year financial planning and rolling forecasts.
• Build robust forecasting models aligned with strategic priorities.
• Present forecasts, financial scenarios and recommendations to Executive Committee and Board.

Cost Management

• Drive cost optimization initiatives; strengthen cost control frameworks.
• Monitor cost performance against budgets and identify efficiency improvements.

Treasury & ALM

• Oversee Treasury management, liquidity forecasting, cash management, and investment/borrowing activities.
• Support and participate in Asset & Liability Management (ALM) activities including rate sensitivity, liquidity gap analysis, capital adequacy, and regulatory ratios.
• Ensure compliance with liquidity, capital and funding regulations.

Taxation

• Oversee corporate taxation, MIRA compliance, and tax planning activities.
• Ensure accurate and timely tax submissions and manage external tax advisors.

ESG, Sustainability & Reporting

• Lead or support implementation of ESG frameworks, including IFRS S1 and IFRS S2 sustainability reporting standards.
• Work with relevant teams to integrate ESG into financial planning, disclosures and risk assessments.

Leadership & Management

• Manage and mentor finance teams; promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
• Provide leadership to cross-functional teams and represent the Finance Division in committees and regulatory meetings.
• Act as Deputy to the CFO, stepping in during absence and supporting strategic decision-making.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification accredited by CA Maldives.
• Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related discipline (highly preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in banking or financial services, with at least 3 years in senior finance leadership.
• Strong technical expertise in IFRS 9, IFRS 16, impairment modelling, ECL, SICR and regulatory reporting.
• Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, cost management, treasury operations and ALM.
• Experience in taxation within financial institutions.
• Knowledge and/or implementation experience of ESG reporting standards (IFRS S1 & S2) is advantageous.
• Excellent English communication skills; strong presentation and stakeholder-management abilities.
