Job Description

Position Summary

The Finance Executive is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting day-to-day finance operations, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, statutory requirements, and internal controls. The role supports bookkeeping, reconciliations, payables and receivables, fund-related and brokerage-related finance functions, tax filings, and coordination with banks, auditors, and regulators.

The position requires a hands-on Finance Executive capable of operating within a lean organizational structure, with strong attention to detail, accountability, and adherence to governance frameworks.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date books of accounts, including recording of all financial transactions, journal entries, accruals, and adjustments in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Perform regular bank, cash, and ledger reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure timely resolution.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice verification, payment processing, monitoring outstanding balances, and maintaining aging schedules.
  • Support finance operations related to funds, investment activities, and brokerage services, including recording of investment transactions, fees, commissions, and settlement-related entries.
  • Assist in preparation and submission of tax filings, statutory returns, and other regulatory compliance requirements in line with Maldives laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate with banks on account administration, payment processing, documentation, mandates, and routine correspondence.
  • Maintain proper financial documentation, supporting schedules, and records for audit, regulatory review, and internal control purposes.
  • Assist in preparation of periodic financial reports, management accounts, and supporting analyses.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing required information and responding to audit queries.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies, procedures, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Carry out other administrative duties as assigned by management from time to time.

 

Required Qualifications & Preferred Experience

  • Minimum qualification of GCE A’ Level or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field will be preferred.
  • Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, or CPA (part-qualified or fully qualified) will be an added advantage.
  • Candidates with a minimum of 1 year of experience in the audit profession, banking sector, or other financial institutions will be preferred.
  • Exposure to bookkeeping, reconciliations, payables and receivables, cash management, and statutory compliance is desirable.

 

Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, particularly for reconciliations, financial schedules, and reporting.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with banks, auditors, regulators, and external stakeholders.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and documentation discipline.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet reporting and compliance deadlines.
  • Professional integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
