JOB SUMMARY
The Marine Electrician is responsible for the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of all electrical and electronic systems onboard company vessels. The role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical equipment while maintaining compliance with Maldives Maritime Authority (MMA), SOLAS, and company safety standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Marine Electrical Certificate, Diploma, or equivalent technical qualification
- Valid electrical safety certification is an advantage
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3 years of relavent experience
- Experience working on commercial vessels, fuel barges, or passenger vessels
- Experience with marine generators, pumps, switchboards, navigation systems, and engine electrical systems
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Strong knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Proficiency in using multimeters, insulation resistance testers (Megger), clamp meters, and other diagnostic equipment
- Knowledge of alternators, generators, motor control circuits, battery systems, and electrical protection devices
- Knowledge of marine electrical regulations and safety standards
