Unit Head (1) - Innovation & Projects / Technology Department

We’re looking for an experienced and qualified candidate to lead our Innovation & Projects team by keeping track of the day-to-day activities of the Bank’s software developments and IT projects.

As the Unit Head – Innovation & Projects, your duty is to supervise and lead the Innovation & Projects team of designers, developers, and project coordinators, providing guidance and support to resolve problems quickly and efficiently to run our development and IT projects and maintain them on track.

Job Scope

Use your understanding of project management and team management skills to maintain, direct, and coordinate the IT project management needs of the Bank. You’d be expected to practically be involved in these activities and lead our Innovation & Projects team, maintaining compliance with the Bank’s IT policies and guidelines.

You would work with other teams within the Technology Department, other functional departments, and external vendors.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, coordinate and monitor daily activities of the Unit.
• Ensure the Bank’s IT developments and projects are run on schedule, scope and within budgets.
• Ensure effective collaboration and coordination with internal teams and external vendors and other parties to smoothly facilitate project activities and resolve incidents.
• Ensure that the Unit’s works follow the Bank’s IT policies and guidelines.
• Manage multiple IT projects simultaneously, from initiation to closure.
• Develop comprehensive project documentation, including project scope, project charter, project plan, project schedules, and budgets.
• Lead project teams, assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure project stakeholders are informed of project status, risks and issues.
• Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.
• Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.
• Report and escalate to management as needed.
• Manage relationships with internal clients and all stakeholders.
• Identify and manage project risks, issues, changes and develop contingency plans as needed.
• Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and conduct post -project evaluations to identify areas for improvement.
• Continuously improve project management processes and methodologies and share best practices with the team and stakeholders.

 

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, Business Administration, or similar field.
• Industry certifications relevant to the role such as PMP, PRINCE2, etc. are an added advantage.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in project and team management.
• Proven working experience as a project manager in the information technology sector.
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and techniques such as Agile, Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban, etc.
• Experience with project management tools, such as Jira, Microsoft Project, Clickup, Notion and similar tools.
• Great educational background, preferably in the fields of computer science or engineering for technical project managers
• Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies.
• Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with direct reports, senior management, and other departments.
• Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
• Ability to work in and maintain a highly functional team environment.
