For paid part-time roles, salaries range from 2250 MVR per month up to 5000 MVR per month based on the final set of job responsibilities and workload negotiated. Internships are unpaid but with more flexibility on roles and hours.

Selected online courses will be sponsored, and bonuses will be provided for successfully completing them.
Research opportunities are available for selected candidates to work on research projects, write articles, pursue their own ideas, research policy issues, conduct sector analyses, etc.
Full credit and name recognition will be given in all published material.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

For internships and part-time work, around 15-20 hours per week is expected. There will be opportunities to move up to new openings for full-time work.

Primary responsibilities will be:

  1. Writing regular shorter articles on policy issues, summaries and analysis of news developments, and summary reviews of books or papers
  2. Researching and drafting policy articles on specific research topics, based on notes provided and guides prepared by lead researcher
  3. Researching comparative policy issues or policies implemented in other cities and countries, and compiling information from publicly available information, email/phone/in-person interviews and discussions, and other sources
  4. Studying documents or publicly available resources such as news articles, statistical releases, and budget documents to find supporting evidence for policy discussions
  5. Preparing short informative videos and developing a social media presence
  6. Developing social media presence, building followers and brand for short informative segments or stories/reels on policy issues
  7. Drafting and narrating video content for YouTube and online course modules, and preparing presentation slides and basic videos
  8. Transcribing and editing notes from focus groups or discussion panels
  9. General summarizing, editing, and administrative support on assigned work

Qualifications

  • Completed Bachelor's degree (for internship applicants, currently in 3rd/4th year of a Bachelor’s is also acceptable)
  • Interest in learning about the policy environment and practical aspects of the policy field.
  • Motivated to learn new skills quickly.
  • Confidently able to collect information from interviews, phone or email communications, and discussions with the public.
  • Ability to work independently and in a remote team environment.

 

Special Considerations

  • Previous work or experience in writing articles, posts, or papers
  • Being able to produce a consistent output of high-quality writing if given notes and raw material to work with
  • Social media skills and current social media presence/audience

Any of the following skills will also be highly valued:

  • GIS, land use plan, spatial planning, and land management related knowledge will be very highly valued
  • Programming, software engineering, app or web design, and coding
  • Database management and/or data analysis
  • Graphic design and digital art
  • Photography and videography / video editing
  • Experience with flying drones
  • Fluent speaker of any other languages (e.g. Hindi, Arabic, Mandarin, Malay, etc)
  • High skill level at the game Cities: Skylines or Cities: Skylines 2
