Job Description
To provide general obstetric and gynecological care according to the standard of care and evidence based medicine.
To provide all types of consulting related to women's reproductive system, including infertility problems.
Ability to raise appropriate questions to the patients and to make them feel comfortable while discussing any health issues.
To keep updated records of all patient’s information, including medical histories, previous reports, surgeries or other obstetric / medical episodes (e.g. allergic shocks, injuries etc.), present symptoms, results of diagnostic tests, and examination findings.
To review and interpret incoming reports (e.g. lab, x-ray, ECG) in a timely manner.
To define a diagnosis and prescribe medications, providing comprehensive instructions for dosage and administration (according to evidence based medicine), keeping a track of the progress shown by the patients during the treatment process.
To give alternative treatments’ options to the patients, helping them to understand the exact process of treatment concerned to their disease.
To hospitalize as needed any patient requiring in-patient care, providing obstetric and gynecological care according to evidence based standards during the hospitalization.
To perform general gynecological and obstetric surgical procedures, both diagnostic and therapeutic, using both minimally invasive and traditional surgical techniques.
To be familiar with colposcopies and loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEPs) as out- and in-patient procedures as appropriate.
To provide tubal ligations at the request of patients, at legally permitted age, following thorough explanation and documentation of risks and benefits.
To refer patients to other specialists when the disease is related to some other medical problem, or when the expertise of other specialists is needed.
To maintain and follow-up reports of the patients that can help for future consultations and treatments.
To provide health care assistance to the pregnant women in prenatal, natal and postnatal period, according to the standard of care.
To provide dietary tips and conduct regular examinations for pregnant women.
To monitor progress of labor and suggest alternative treatments, helping the woman to understand the exact process of treatment concerned to her clinical condition.
To read and interpret cardiotocography (CTG), and proceed accordingly.
To perform cesarean sections or other surgical procedures as needed and in a timely manner, to preserve patients' health and deliver babies safely.
To participate in regular on-call coverage (day and night).
To participate in health promotion/disease prevention activities.
To conduct conferences and seminars related to health management and dietary plans for women including breastfeeding education.
To contribute to the definition and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures in the Obstetric and Gynecology Department.
To comply with Infection Control plan, and all other hospital standards.
To supervise patient care personnel, directing and coordinating the activities of nurses, Medical Officers, specialists, and other medical staff, for their management.
To ensure compliance by support staff.
