Job Description

Join Our Team: Junior Finance Officer

Maldives Business School is looking for a detail-oriented and organized Junior Finance Officer to join our team. This role is essential for maintaining the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations through meticulous transaction management and reporting.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the Finance Officer manages day-to-day transactions and maintains comprehensive financial records. You will play a key role in accounts payable, receivable, and ensuring full financial compliance with institutional policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transaction Management: Record daily financial transactions, process payments (including employee reimbursements and supplier invoices), and manage petty cash.
  • Accounts Management: Reconcile bank statements, maintain subsidiary ledgers, and assist in managing student fee collections.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare detailed summaries of daily transactions and assist in creating periodic cash flow and expense reports.
  • Internal Controls: Follow internal financial policies, review records for compliance, and assist the Accountant in identifying potential risks or fraud.
  • Budgeting Support: Monitor budget utilization, highlight spending trends, and compile data to assist in budget preparation and forecasting.
  • Communication: Act as a liaison for financial queries from students, vendors, and other departments.

What We Are Looking For

  • Accounting Expertise: Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP or IFRS) and taxation regulations.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experienced in using financial and accounting software to manage data and generate reports.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to assess complex financial scenarios, analyze data, and propose proactive solutions.
  • High Precision: Exceptional attention to detail in handling transactions and maintaining organized documentation for audits.
  • Integrity: A strong commitment to ethics, confidentiality, and professional standards.

 

Working Conditions

  • Type: Full-time (On-site).
  • Hours: Typically 8 hours per day, with occasional overtime during reporting or fiscal closing periods.
  • Environment: Involving sedentary work and intense focus on digital financial software.
  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required for meetings, conferences, or audits.
