Job Description

We are seeking a Financial Controller to support the financial management of Aeon Energy Maldives as the company continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Management & Budgeting

Maintain and oversee financial records for Aeon Energy Maldives
Prepare and maintain operational budgets for the company
Monitor budget performance and track deviations from planned expenditure
Support the preparation of financial forecasts and planning models
Assist management in maintaining clear financial visibility across the business

2. Treasury & Liquidity Monitoring

Monitor company cash balances and overall liquidity position

Track upcoming financial obligations including supplier payments and operational expenses
Assist management with liquidity forecasting and cash flow planning
Ensure sufficient funds are available to meet operational needs

3. Accounting & Financial Administration

Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure correct entries in the company’s accounting systems
Assist with preparation of year-end accounts and coordination with external accountants
Reconcile financial transactions across company accounts
Track invoices, payments, and financial documentation across company activities
Ensure financial records remain organised and up to date

4. Receivables & Payment Collection

Develop and maintain a structured system to track invoices and receivables
Monitor outstanding customer payments and ensure invoices are collected on time
Follow up with clients regarding overdue payments
Provide regular reporting to management on receivables and payment status
Help maintain healthy working capital through effective payment tracking

5. Financial Systems & Process Improvement

Help maintain simple and effective financial management systems suitable for a growing startup
Assist management in maintaining structured financial processes across the organisation
Identify opportunities to improve financial organisation, reporting, and operational efficiency

 

Requirements

• Essential

Fluent in both English and Dhivehi

Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial management
Experience maintaining accounting records and preparing financial reports
Ability to prepare and monitor company budgets
Strong organisational and analytical skills
Ability to work independently within a small startup environment

• Desirable

Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
Experience working in startups, renewable energy, engineering, or technology sectors
Experience managing receivables and payment collection systems

 

Working Environment

This role is suited to someone comfortable working in a small, fast-moving startup environment.

Unlike large corporate finance teams, the role involves a mix of hands-on accounting, financial organisation, budgeting, liquidity monitoring, and operational financial oversight.

Candidates should be comfortable working independently and contributing to building simple and effective financial systems as the company grows.

 

Salary

Starting from MVR 25,000 per month, with the possibility of increases based on performance and experience.

As Aeon Energy continues to expand, the role may evolve into a senior financial management position with increasing responsibility over financial operations and company finances.
