JOB SUMMARY
Counsellor is responsible for supporting the well-being and personal development of students by providing guidance, counseling, and resources to address their academic, personal, and emotional challenges. The Counsellor will foster a supportive environment, helping students navigate college life, build resilience, and achieve their personal and educational goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Counseling Services
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions for students facing academic, personal, or social challenges.
- Develop personalized action plans for students needing additional support and follow up on progress.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure all counseling activities comply with ethical and professional standards.

Crisis Intervention
- Offer immediate support and intervention for students experiencing crisis situations, including mental health emergencies.
- Coordinate with external mental health professionals or relevant services when additional support is required.

Student Development
- Conduct workshops and seminars on topics such as stress management, time management, self-esteem, and career planning.
- Provide resources and support for students to develop skills for academic success and personal growth.

Collaboration with Faculty and Staff
- Work with faculty and staff to identify students in need of support, encouraging a proactive approach to student welfare.
- Participate in student service meetings to contribute to the development of college-wide student support initiatives.

Career and Academic Advising
- Assist students in setting academic and career goals, helping them understand the requirements for their chosen fields.
- Support students in making informed decisions regarding their academic paths, career interests, and internship opportunities.

Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of all counseling sessions, interventions, and follow-ups.
- Prepare reports on counseling services, highlighting trends, common issues, and recommendations for improvement.
QUALIFICATION
- Educational Background: Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in counseling, preferably in an educational setting.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to work with diverse student populations.
- Certifications & License: Professional certifications or licensure in counseling or psychology are preferred (Recognised by Maldives Allied Health Council)
WORKING CONDITION:
- Employment Type: Full-time
- Working Hours: Standard office hours, with occasional evenings or weekends for events or emergency counseling.
- Work Environment: On-campus, with a dedicated office space for confidential student meetings.
