'Meemu Atoll School is a government educational institution located in Kolhufushi Island, Maldives, providing education from the foundation stage to Grade 12. Established in 1984, the school has a long and respected history of serving the educational needs of the Meemu Atoll while upholding national standards and community values. It offers internationally recognized programs, including GCSE, O-Level, and A-Level examinations. The school was originally constructed through the collective efforts of the people of Kolhufushi using wooden materials, reflecting the strong community spirit and commitment to education. Meemu Atoll School was officially inaugurated on 23rd March 1984 (20th Jumadil Akhir 1404) by the then Minister of Atoll Administration, Hon. Al Ustaz Abdulla Hameed, and the Minister of Education, Hon. Al Ustaz Mohamed Zahir Naseer. Subsequently, on 25th November 1987 (4th Rabi ul Akhir 1408), the government laid the concrete foundation of the school building under the leadership of the then Chief Atoll Administrator, Mr. Abdul Raheem Abdul Majeed. Guided by its vision, Meemu Atoll School strives to establish a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment—both physically and mentally—to instill a deep love for Islam and Maldivian culture among its students. The school is dedicated to familiarizing students with modern knowledge, discoveries, and resources, empowering them to face life’s challenges with confidence and courage. Through collective effort and shared responsibility, the school aims to develop students into valuable, principled, and courageous individuals who are committed to serving their community and the nation.
