About Us

This Council, is the legislative body elected under the law of local government, in Maldives. There are seven members elected as the council by a vote by the people of the island. Apart from the council members who make decisions, civil servants who are appointed to implement the decisions taken by the council members are formed as an organization. With the implementation of the Decentralization Act in 2011, the name of the Atoll Offices was changed to Atoll Council Offices. In the past, the province was divided into 3 constituencies: 1 (Goidhoo, Fehendhoo, Fulhadhoo, Thulhaadhoo), 2 (Hithaadhoo, Eydhafushi, Maalhos), 3 (Dharavandhoo, Dhonfan, Kihaadhoo, Kamadhoo, Kudarikilu, Kendhoo), where 2 councilors were elected by the citizens of the islands. The total number of Atoll Council members are 6 as it is divided into 3 constituencies.
