The holders of this qualification will be competent to work in the Maritime Sector as a Tug Mechanic/Assistant Tug Mechanic. The level one qualification presented here will facilitate preparing students to the entry-level workplace tasks and the competency units are mapped in such a way to fulfill the knowledge
and skills requirements of the “Assistant Mechanic” or "Tug Mechanic" occupation within the local Maritime Industry.
Referred mechanics can undertake general functional assessment of the small/medium marine engines
and its systems and perform necessary repair and maintenance tasks.

Eligibility:

The World Bank COVID-19 Income Support Project was initiated to assist individuals whose employment was impacted by the pandemic. 

As per the project requirements, individuals without a job or working less than 20 hours per week (at the time of application) are eligible for this assistance (please refer to the Apprenticeship Program Usoolu for more information).
 
Funding:

100% Government Funded

Allowance:

A stipend of MVR 5,000 will be paid monthly for the entire duration of the apprenticeship program.
